Doors Open Mural Fest is coming up September 26-27! 🎨With two full days of art, history, music, shopping, and local flavor ahead, there’s a lot to explore on the East Side. We put together a quick guide to help you plan your weekend and make the most of your visit.
🏛️ Visit Official Doors Open Milwaukee Participants
Explore some of the East Side’s most interesting historic and cultural spaces, including The Oriental Theatre, Charles Allis Art Museum, Bertelson Building and Paloma Wilder Studio, UWM Kenilworth Square East Gallery, North Point Water Tower, and Von Trier.

🛍️ Support East Side Businesses
Several East Side businesses are joining in with special events and promotions throughout the weekend. Stop by Lowwstock Vintage for a DJ, sidewalk sale, and vintage finds. Visit Jalisco’s Cocina y Bar for their buy-one, get-your-second-half-off margarita special.
The Oriental Theatre will also be hosting the Dialogues Documentary Festival, while Shanghai Speakeasy will have its gate open for walk-up service in Black Cat Alley.
🎨 Go Mural Hunting
No trip to the East Side during Doors Open Mural Fest would be complete without checking out some of our public art. Use our East Side mural map to explore murals throughout the neighborhood, including Black Cat Alley.
While you’re there, look for Up Up and Away by Arcadia Melster, the newest mural in Black Cat Alley, and Wild Bill by Brent Schoonover and Hannah Tews, the featured Brewers mural. ⚾🎨
🪩 Dance the Night Away at House Circuit
On Saturday, House Circuit returns to Ivanhoe Plaza for an evening of house music under the lights. Chicago selector Ivano Lima and Milwaukee legend Moorhaus will be bringing the sounds to the plaza from 5-10:30 PM.
Make a night of it by grabbing dinner nearby, stopping for a drink at Shanghai Speakeasy or Star Bar, and then heading over to Ivanhoe Plaza for the party.
☀️ Come Back Sunday for the East Side Makers Market
After a late night, we know you’ll need a little fuel. Grab breakfast or a pastry at Poppy Bakery or a smoothie from Baya Bar, then head to Ivanhoe Plaza for the East Side Makers Market, sponsored by Milwaukee Makers Market.
The market runs Sunday, September 27, from 10 AM-3 PM and will feature local artists, makers, vintage sellers, bakers, and small businesses with plenty of unique finds, handmade goods, sweet treats, and more.
