Eton’s plans to build a huge new 3,000-house town at North Barnes Farm would engulf the villages of East Chiltington, South Chailey and Plumpton Green in one urban sprawl. It would also have a massive impact far beyond the actual site. Much of the extra traffic generated by the town - an estimated 3.5 million extra vehicle journeys a year - would be funnelled through notorious bottlenecks such as the prison crossroads in Lewes. There would also be pressure on local services. Our Drop-in Day at the Quaker Meeting House on November 21st will give you the chance to learn more about what Eton’s scheme would mean for people in Lewes & the surrounding area.
