Dave Betts is a British drummer, multi-percussionist and composer. His compositions span the worlds of Jazz, Latin and Funk with the emphasis on irresistible Afro-Cuban and Brazilian grooves, strong Melodie’s, and explosive solos. His unique on stage set up combines drum kit with Latin percussion and multiple pedals enabling him to play four percussion parts simultaneously. Expect infectious rhythms, punchy horn lines and soaring solos.
Dave has recorded four studio albums; Bounce, Straight Ahead, High-Rise and These Times and a live album recorded during his residency at Ronnie Scott’s.
REVIEW. Clive Cooper - Jazz Journal
“Dave Betts is UK based drummer who’s music displays his love for the post-bop, funk and Latin music of Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, Tito Puente and others. You might think a band with such a strong inspiration can’t go far wrong, and in this case you’d be right. Pleasingly varied and well-executed music that proves the perennial appeal of strong rhythm, melody and structure. This would fit the bill at many a summer festival.”
REVIEW. Selwyn Harris - Jazzwise
“The experienced, Tito Puente influenced percussionist/arranger Dave Betts specialises in infectiously funky Latin-jazz grooves and his horn led ensemble caters for those still getting their kicks on the floor. “
REVIEW. Tony Benjamin
