October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and WRC is bringing our Empty Place at the Table Exhibit to Strange Birds, a queer community space in Scranton. The table will open for viewing at 5pm and a talk will begin afterwards with speakers Peg Ruddy from WRC, Charley Rude co-owner of Strange Birds and Brittny Servello from the PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Domestic violence happens in the LGBTQ+ community at roughly the same rates as are seen for heterosexual folks but it is not talked about nearly as much. Whether you are a survivor, a member of the LBGTQ+ community, both or love someone who is, this event is for you. Come spend the evening in community.
