Dolan has retired from live performances due to hearing problems, but has found a new way to continue sharing his love of Arizona through the pages of his new book; Adventures of a Balladeer" An Inspiring Memoir On Listening To Your Inner Voice, Following Your Dreams, and Finding Your Hozho.Dolan was appointed Arizona’s Official State Balladeer by Governor Sam Goddard in 1966 and has been re-appointed by 13 consecutive governors. For over 60 years, Dolan has preserved the history of Arizona’s landmarks, legends, characters, and cultures through the more than 300 songs he has written and his concerts and personal appearance in Arizona, across the country, and around the world.
There are over 40 stories in the book. Some are profound, others mysterious and a few laugh-out- loud funny. There are stories from his early days as a traveling folk singer, his time as a member of the Grammy-winning group, The New Christy Minstrels, and memories from the years he spent driving over a million
miles in his 4-wheel drive Jeeps on Arizona’s highways, back roads, dirt roads and places where no roads even existed.
In his book, Dolan offers insight on how listening to his inner voice and following his dreams allowed him to lead a happy, successful life and gave him the courage to make the right but sometime harder choices.
