Explore Detroit’s Black history through Divining Freedom with author Donna Givens Davidson in bi-weekly community discussions.
About this Event

Explore Detroit’s Black history and the forces that have shaped our communities through the lens of Divining Freedom.

Through the lives of five Black Detroit families across generations, we’ll discuss the Great Migration, Northern segregation, urban renewal, Black empowerment, Black market economies, economic collapse, and predatory housing and banking policies.

Each conversation will be led by Donna Givens Davidson, author of Divining Freedom and President & CEO of Eastside Community Network, and includes a healthy dinner provided by a local restaurant, bringing us together around food, history, reflection, and conversation.

Come hungry for a good meal, a deeper understanding, and a meaningful exchange of ideas!
