Divas You Don't Know

Divas You Don't Know by Milia Ayache is a one-woman staged reading cabaret charting diva stars by compass. Through song, movement, and monologue in five languages, Ayache explores our relationship to the raw power of the singing voice. Navigating varied cultural and historic landscapes, she questions the legacies and converging struggles of Maya Kristalinskaya, Asmahan, and Dalida. Connecting their history with a compass rose and black eyeliner, the piece illuminates the afterglow of these celestial voices, reminding us of the divas in our own lives, like our mothers. Eyeliner optional. Open mind required.
