Vi inviterer til en ny vri av Diskupils, nemlig Disku Pizza! – en lavterskel møteplass hvor vi inviterer antropologer til å snakke om forskningen, feltarbeidet og erfaringene sine, og om hvordan antropologien kan brukes til å forstå verden rundt oss.
Denne gangen får vi besøk av Alpa Shah! Hun er kanskje særlig kjent for Nightmarch: Among India’s Revolutionary Guerrillas, hvor hun tar utgangspunkt i sitt feltarbeid blant mennesker knyttet til den maoistiske Naxalite-bevegelsen. I 2010 gikk Shah selv syv netter og rundt 250 kilometer gjennom skogene i det østlige India sammen med en gruppe geriljasoldater.
Shah har også skrevet The Incarcerations: BK-16 and the Search for Democracy in India, og hennes nyere arbeid fortsetter å undersøke forholdet mellom demokrati, statsmakt, ulikhet og politisk motstand.

Disku Pizza with Alpa Shah
We’re introducing a new twist on Diskupils: Disku Pizza! – a low-threshold space where we invite anthropologists to talk about their research, fieldwork and experiences, and about how anthropology can help us understand the world around us.
This time, we’ll be joined by Alpa Shah! She is perhaps best known for Nightmarch: Among India’s Revolutionary Guerrillas, which draws on her fieldwork among people connected to the Maoist Naxalite movement. In 2010, Shah herself spent seven nights walking approximately 250 kilometres through the forests of eastern India alongside a group of guerrilla fighters.
Shah is also the author of The Incarcerations: BK-16 and the Search for Democracy in India, and her more recent work continues to explore the relationship between democracy, state power, inequality and political resistance.
