Our next book is Whistler by Ann Patchett. While visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Daphne unexpectedly meets Eddie, her former stepfather. He was an important part of her childhood, but she hasn’t seen him since she was nine, when an accident was followed by the sudden end of his marriage to her mother.
Their reunion gives them a chance to revisit that shared past and understand what happened. It’s a story about family, memory and the enduring importance of people who may have been in our lives only briefly.
