DISCOVERIES Series V Showcases Future Stars Performing in Recital.
The DISCOVERIES Series continues to be widely acclaimed for the very high standard of the brilliant musicians taking part.
Since this series started, our performances have all been held at Leighton House, Kensington. For the first recital of the upcoming season we are honoured to have been invited to launch the new series at the National Liberal Club, 1 Whitehall Place, London SW1A 2HE on Monday 14 September. Further concerts in the 2026-27 series will take place at Leighton House Museum, 12 Holland Park Road, Kensington, London, W14 8LZ. Each recital is approximately one hour’s duration without an interval, starting at 7.00pm. Seating is unreserved.

Miranda Robertson studies with James Baillieu and Raymond Connell at the Royal
Academy of Music, London, and has been a pupil of operatic soprano Nelly Miricioiu,
since 2020. She works regularly with vocal coach and conductor, Audrey Saint Gil and
with pianist Julius Drake, and recently made her Wigmore Hall debut as holder of the
Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary for Young Singers. Miranda attended the Franz
Schubert Institut 2025, studying with Helmut Deutsch, Elly Ameling, Robert Holl and
other Lied experts. She has had significant success in both opera and mélodie at major
international French competitions and was invited to give a recital at Opéra Grand
Avignon in 2024.
Sofia Surkova is a Ukrainian pianist studying at the Royal Academy of Music with
Tatiana Sarkissova. She began playing the piano at six and made her concerto debut
seven months later with the National Presidential Orchestra in the Kyiv Philharmonic.
Sofia has performed across Ukraine, in France, Austria, Poland, Italy, Lithuania, the
United Kingdom and the United States. A prizewinner of more than fifty international
competitions, she received a Scholarship from the Mayor of Kyiv and support from the
Leonid Kuchma Foundation. Sofia has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including
Kyiv Camerata and Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, as well as regularly collaborating with singers and chamber ensembles.
