One day. One bus. Eight stops where Richland County is building something new.Discover Richland is the Chamber’s guided tour of the people and projects behind our local food and drink economy. This year’s theme, Rooted & Rising, is about businesses that started small here, stayed here, and are now helping rebuild the places around them.
Here’s how the day unfolds:
After boarding the bus in Mansfield, we kick off with coffee and pastries at Milk & Honey, a shop that started as a trailer and now gives women in recovery a place to work. Then we’ll walk one block of West Main Street, where a demolition site, a restaurant in an old bank, a new boutique and a historic restoration all sit side by side.
The Milliron Foundation will walk us through its plans for Milliron Estates, 61 apartments for veterans and seniors.
Lunch is a spread of heavy hors d’oeuvres from local food entrepreneurs at Idea Works Kitchen. Next, we’ll walk through the hotel that’s about to become Hearth & Forge and hear the plan to make it downtown’s “indoor town square.” After that, we head to the North End for a look at an urban farm on old factory land and an early peek inside Grow by NECIC.
We finish downtown with a distillery tour and samples at Ohio Shine Co., then raise a glass at Phoenix Brewing with a new beer inspired by the Chamber’s own historic building.
