Description:
We’re planning a family-friendly neighborhood festival designed to bring residents together around food, resources, entertainment, and community connection. Our goal is for neighbors to come enjoy the afternoon, discover local businesses and restaurants, connect with community organizations and resources, and celebrate Independence Plaza.
Event Components
Taste of the Neighborhood’s food
We’ll feature neighborhood restaurants and food vendors, giving residents a chance to discover and support local businesses.
Bring your picnic and enjoy the park with your neighbors!
Connect
We’re inviting community organizations, nonprofits, workforce partners, KCPD, city departments, and other resources to connect directly with residents.
Discover
We’re building a resource and career component with organizations that can connect neighbors to jobs, education, workforce development, city services, youth programs, and other opportunities.
Family Fun
We’ll have a Kid Zone with UNI’s STEAM lab, Mattie Rhodes art table as well as other activities for children and families, along with entertainment throughout the afternoon.
