Director’s Duties – Employment Law

This session is aimed at directors, providing an essential understanding of the key legal obligations of a director, the general duties a director has to comply with and the consequence of failing to do so.

The session will cover key topics including:

• A Director’s role in the company
• General duties under the Companies Act 2006 and the practical implications of the legislation
• Additional duties if you are also a Charity Trustee
• Managing conflicts of interest
• Duties under the Company’s articles
• The consequences of non-compliance
• Potential relief from liability
• Director’s personal liabilities
• Good boardroom practice.

You will gain a good grounding in the important role a Director plays in a business, the difference between executive and non-executive directors, the tasks they must undertake, how to comply with those obligations in practice to protect both the individual and the business and the consequences of getting it wrong.

The ideal delegate for this course would be HR professionals and others with HR responsibility.
