Founding member of one of the greatest rock bands in history, John Illsley is coming to the Mullingar Arts Centre this October for an incredible live show celebrating the timeless music of DIRE STRAITS.As the legendary bass player and a cornerstone of the band’s unmistakable sound, John Illsley was present from the very beginning of Dire Straits and played on every one of the group’s albums. The band became one of the most successful rock acts in the world, selling over 120 million records and producing era-defining classics including Sultans of Swing, Money for Nothing, Walk of Life, Romeo and Juliet, and Brothers in Arms.
Together with frontman Mark Knopfler, John helped shape a band whose distinctive blend of rock, blues and storytelling lyrics earned them global acclaim. Their landmark 1985 album Brothers in Arms became one of the best-selling albums of all time and cemented Dire Straits’ place among rock’s most influential bands.
