In April 2025 the Clark County jail began incarcerating ICE detainees after signing a financial agreement with federal authorities. Scotty Maples has threatened citizens that without the money the jail brings in the county would have to raise taxes. Clark County is only one of five counties in Indiana that houses ICE detainees. Signing the agreement was a choice.
We reject the notion that balancing budgets can justify stripping people of their dignity and ripping apart families. On this Mother's Day we ask you to think of the families, especially the children, that have been traumatized by this immigration policy.
