About this Event
Join Different Strokes for a welcoming Community Event in Liverpool, bringing together younger stroke survivors, family members and carers for a morning of support, connection and shared experiences.
Our friendly, informal Community Events are a chance to meet others who understand life after stroke, hear from a fellow stroke survivor, find out more about our charity and enjoy an optional activity together.
We are very grateful to our corporate partners, whose support makes these events possible. They help with venue and refreshments costs and support us with the practical running of the day. Our partners will be present and available if you have any legal questions.
There is no obligation to speak to our partners or discuss legal matters. Our focus is on creating a warm, welcoming space to connect, share experiences and enjoy time together.
Places are limited to 25 to keep the event relaxed and personal.
Whether your stroke happened recently or many years ago, we’d love to welcome you.

Our Guest Speaker:
Andy was on a works MS Teams call in 2023 when he went to move his mouse and his arm wouldn’t move. Having no inkling he was having a stroke his work colleague stared suspecting this was the case after their father had a stroke the previous year. Andy called 111 and was advised to get to hospital where at the age of 44 he was told he had had a stroke.
Hear Andy share his personal experience of stroke - what happened, how life changed afterwards and where he is now in his recovery.
In 2023, Andy was on a work Microsoft Teams call when he went to move his mouse and realised his arm wouldn’t move. Unaware that he was having a stroke, Andy’s situation was recognised by a colleague, who suspected a stroke after their own father had experienced one the previous year. Andy called 111 and was advised to go to hospital, where, at just 44 years old, he was told he had suffered a stroke.
Hear Andy share his personal experience of stroke, how it changed his life and where he is now on his road to recovery.
