Explore collage as a tool for visual journaling and to reflect on thoughts, emotions and experience through images rather than words.
Diary Through Collage is a creative workshop that explores collage as a tool for visual journaling and a way to intuitively reflect on thoughts, emotions and experience through images rather than words.
Artist Alexandra Naumova will share her personal process of using intuitive collage as a tool for self-reflection, along with a brief introduction to Carl Jung’s ideas about symbols, archetypes, and the collective unconscious as inspiration for working with imagery.
Participants will create a simple handmade collage zine to take home and continue using beyond the workshop. Material for the zine, magazines, books, papers, and the artist's collection of cutouts, along with a few simple composition formulas will be provided to help guide the creative process without limiting intuition.
Participants will have access to books on symbolism to browse for inspiration and personal reflection. The class will end with an optional sharing circle in pairs or as a group, where participants can talk about their collage, their creative process, and any themes or insights they discovered along the way.
Street Parking is available near the gallery. An underground parking garage can be accessed from the alley beside Reve Apartments at 3000 Pearl Parkway.
