Save the Date: Stockholm University and the Department of Child and Youth Studies have the great pleasure to invite you to NYRIS Conference 2026: Dialogues in Youth Studies. Theories, Methodologies, EthicsYouth is a contested social, political and temporal category, shaped in relation to cultural discourses, institutional structures, social processes and finite resources. Seen as both promise and problem, youth are often imagined as a global conscience in times of crisis, yet also as vulnerable and in need of governance, guidance or repair. How we define, approach and give voice to youth matters, and have consequences for young people worldwide.
Dialogues in Youth Studies: Theories, Methodologies, Ethics will bring together international researchers, to engage in critical conversations about contemporary youth research, in the Nordic context and beyond. We wish to create a space for examining the theoretical frameworks that shape our understanding of young people's lives and social conditions, the methodological approaches we employ to study youths’ experiences, perspectives and practises, and the ethical considerations that guide our reseach. Through keynotes, paper presentations and networking opportunities, the conference emphasizes dialogue and exchange across disciplinary boundaries.
The website and more information about the conference and call for papers will come in November. Stay tuned!
