The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated from November 1 to November 2 (with preparations and openings often starting on October 26) where families welcome back the souls of their deceased loved ones for a joyful reunion. Not Mexican Halloween: Although it falls near Halloween and features skeleton imagery or face painting, Día de los Muertos is a spiritual and celebratory remembrance of ancestors, not a night of fright.
Catholic Syncretism: Following the arrival of Spanish conquistadors, the indigenous celebration merged with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2) We will celebrate with music, food, storytelling, and crafts for the entire family to enjoy.
