About this Event
From Detection to Direction
What do you see — and where is this patient heading?
Join us for the next Aura Orthodontics Study Club, an interactive, case-based evening designed to help dentists and their teams develop a stronger orthodontic eye.
Tuesday, November 3, 2026
Guildford Golf & Country Club
6:00 PM — Arrival & Networking
Complimentary dinner | Free admission | CE credits available
Limited to 80 attendees
Led by Dr. Vishal Sharma, this session will focus on recognizing developing orthodontic problems earlier, understanding where those problems may be heading, and making more confident decisions around intervention, case selection, and referral.
This is not a lecture about simply learning orthodontic mechanics.
It is about learning to see the patient differently.
What We’ll Cover
1. Learning to See the Orthodontic Patient
Move beyond simply asking, “Are the teeth straight?”
We’ll look at growth, eruption, space, occlusion, skeletal pattern, function, and the patient’s overall orthodontic trajectory.
2. Early Detection in the Pediatric Patient
Using mixed dentition records and panoramic radiographs, we’ll identify developing concerns including:
- Crowding
- Deep bites
- Crossbites
- Eruption disturbances
- Arch constriction
- Potentially impacted canines
3. Child → Teenager → Adult
Follow common orthodontic problems through different stages of development and see how relatively subtle early findings can evolve into more complex adolescent and adult presentations.
4. Teenage Treatment Decisions
Explore the diagnostic thinking behind treatment choices, including:
- Extraction versus non-extraction approaches
- Arch development
- Growth
- Facial profile
- Periodontal boundaries
- Long-term treatment objectives
5. Adult Orthodontics: Working Backwards
We’ll look at adult orthodontic problems retrospectively and ask:
When did this begin? What could have been detected earlier? And could earlier recognition have changed the treatment pathway?
6. Invisalign Case Selection: Green, Yellow, Red
A practical framework for identifying:
Green: Straightforward Invisalign cases
Yellow: Cases requiring greater experience, planning, or support
Red: Cases where specialist involvement or referral should be considered
7. Social Media vs. Clinical Reality
Orthodontics is increasingly discussed online in simplified terms.
We’ll separate social media narratives from comprehensive diagnosis with case-based discussions around:
- Expansion
- Extractions
- Facial change
- Airway
- Clear aligners
- Treatment outcomes
The Key Takeaway
The goal of this evening is to strengthen pattern recognition and clinical decision-making across the entire dental team.
Throughout the session, we’ll repeatedly come back to three questions:
What do I see today?
What does it mean?
Where is this patient heading?
Who Should Attend?
This session is designed for:
Dentists • Dental Hygienists • Dental Assistants • Treatment Coordinators • Clinical Team Members
Whether you actively provide orthodontic treatment or primarily identify and refer developing cases, this evening is designed to give your entire team a clearer framework for recognizing what matters and knowing when to act.
Space is limited to 80 attendees. Registration is required.
