На 28 ноември ✨ Derida Dance Fest 2026 ✨ представя Както ви харесва - провокативно, остроумно и дълбоко лично соло на финландския хореограф и танцьор Мария Нурмела.
Съчетавайки танцов театър, стендъп комедия, автобиография и хореографски препратки към историята на танца, Нурмела се изправя срещу обществените представи за възрастта, женствеността и мястото на женското тяло на сцената.
Между хумора и уязвимостта, спомена и настоящето, тя поставя въпроса не просто какво означава да бъдеш видяна, а какво е необходимо, за да продължиш да заемаш своето пространство.

Сбогуване с трикото, балетните пачки и часовниците с кукувица. Поклон към историята на танца, който едновременно я почита и поставя под въпрос.
Финландската хореографка Мария Нурмела определя своето соло „As You Like It“ като среща между танцов театър и стендъп комедия.
Премиерно представен през януари 2025 г. в Turku City Theatre, спектакълът е едновременно почит към танцовата традиция и остър поглед към това какво означава да бъдеш жена изпълнител на средна възраст.
Вдъхновена от известните думи на Шекспир „Целият свят е сцена“, Нурмела поставя себе си в четвъртото от седемте действия на живота - средната възраст.
„Казаха ми, че жените на средна възраст бавно се превръщат в бял шум. Затова тази вечер съм в черно.“
Спектакълът започва, преди официално да е започнал. Публиката заварва Нурмела да разговаря със зрителите, докато дизайнерите на звука и осветлението все още подготвят сценичното пространство.
Границата между представлението и реалността постепенно се размива. В основата стои и идеята на социолога Ървинг Гофман за социалния живот като представление - за ролите, които изпълняваме всекидневно, и трудността да определим къде свършва социалният образ и започва личността.
Между автобиографичния разказ, културния коментар и движението Нурмела преминава през различни пластове на собствената си идентичност.
Хуморът се среща с неудобните въпроси, а тялото отказва да бъде сведено до възраст, очакване или стереотип.
„Както ви харесва“ е едновременно сбогуване и ново начало. Отказ да се превърнеш във фонов шум. И настояване, че тялото има право да бъде видимо, да се променя и да продължава да танцува.
✨ Мария Нурмела е финландска танцова артистка, носителка на наградата ABOA (2020), която работи между Турку, Хелзинки и Антверпен.
В творчеството си тя съчетава танц, визуално изкуство, театър и кино. Между 2003 и 2017 г. е танцьорка в Tero Saarinen Company и е работила с артисти като Theo Clinkard и Susanne Linke.
Нейните проекти изследват връзките между поколенията, екологията и женската идентичност - от „The Days Project“, с участието на изпълнители над 65 години, до „Baby Ocean“, предназначен за бебета.
Нурмела е сертифициран практик по метода Feldenkrais и работи като преподавател и ментор. През 2008 г. списание Ballet/Tanz я определя като една от най-значимите танцьорки в Европа.

What does it mean to grow older as a woman on stage? When does the body stop being perceived as visible, desirable, and significant? And who decides when a woman should step away from the spotlight?
On November 28, ✨ Derida Dance Fest 2026 ✨ presents AS YOU LIKE IT, a provocative, witty, and deeply personal solo by Finnish choreographer and dancer Maria Nurmela.
Blending dance theatre, stand-up comedy, autobiography, and references to dance history, Nurmela confronts society's expectations of age, femininity, and the place of the female body on stage.
Between humour and vulnerability, memory and the present, she asks not only what it means to be seen, but what it takes to continue claiming one's space.

A farewell to leotards, tutus, and cuckoo clocks. A wavering bow to dance history, both celebrating and questioning its traditions.
Finnish choreographer Maria Nurmela describes her solo As You Like It as "dance-theatre meets stand-up".
Premiered in January 2025 at Turku City Theatre, the performance is both a tribute to dance history and a sharp reflection on what it means to be a middle-aged woman performer.
Drawing on Shakespeare's "All the world's a stage", Nurmela places herself in the fourth of life's seven acts: middle age.
"Middle-aged women slowly turn into white noise, I was told. That's why I am wearing black tonight."
The performance begins before it officially starts. The audience finds Nurmela already chatting with spectators while the sound and lighting designers are still preparing the stage.
Gradually, the boundary between performance and reality begins to blur. Beneath the surface lies sociologist Erving Goffman's understanding of social life as performance - the roles we play every day, and the difficulty of identifying where the social persona ends and the individual begins.
Moving between autobiography, cultural commentary, and pure movement, Nurmela navigates different layers of her identity.
Humour meets uncomfortable questions, while the body refuses to be reduced to age, expectation, or stereotype.
As You Like It is both a farewell and a new beginning. A refusal to become background noise. An insistence that the body has the right to remain visible, to change, and to keep dancing.
✨ Maria Nurmela is an ABOA Prize-winning (2020) Finnish dance artist based between Turku, Helsinki, and Antwerp.
Her artistic practice merges dance with visual art, theatre, and film. She danced with Tero Saarinen Company from 2003 to 2017 and has collaborated with artists including Theo Clinkard and Susanne Linke.
Her work explores intergenerationality, ecology, and womanhood, from The Days Project, featuring performers over the age of 65, to Baby Ocean, created for babies.
A certified Feldenkrais practitioner, she also teaches and mentors at various institutions. In 2008, Ballet/Tanz named her one of Europe's most significant female dancers.

As You Like It premiered to sold-out audiences at Turku City Theatre on January 30, 2025, as part of a shared evening with choreographer and performer Lisi Estaras' solo #THISISBEAUTY.
The performance has also toured to Ballo Pubblico Festival (Italy, June 2025) and Lonely in the Rain Festival (Finland, November 2025).
Derida Dance Fest is organized by Art Link Foundation / Derida Dance Center with the financial support of the European Commission through Aerowaves - Dance Across Europe and Moving Balkans - Balkan Platform for Contemporary Dance, Sofia Municipality through the Culture Programme and the Calendar of Cultural Events, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, the French Institute in Bulgaria, the Teatroskop programme, and Instituto Cervantes - Sofia, and with the support of the Regional Centre for Contemporary Arts Toplocentrala.
