About this Event
Democracy Writes! is a free, participatory literary event. Together we will write in a themed, prompt-based generative workshop. Then, the community open mic is yours! No pressure, reading is completely voluntary. We'll also have some special dramatic readings from the work of free speech advocates past and present.
The election may be over, but celebrating democracy knows no bounds and our need to freely express ourselves is as urgent as ever. Writing together in a supportive and welcoming environment builds community and supports our shared national values. It also offers a way to channel our personal feelings about the state of the world and our country in this moment. Join us for Democracy Writes!, an afternoon of free speech, diversity and democracy.
Greats of Craft Midtown has plenty of refreshments for purchase but keep in mind that space for our event is limited. Please reserve now.
