About this Event
Join us for three amazing survivor-centered workshops. Get a taste of the Demand To Be Heard artist residency!
All workshops are open level with no experience required. Workshops are on Saturday September 26th, held at Art Share LA, 801 E 4th Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90013.
All workshops are pay-what-you-can, with a suggested donation of $10-15.
Finding Your Voice, with Jess Gross
11:30am - 12:45pm
The power of music as medicine, connection, and community is well documented: but what does it mean to you? We’ll start with an exercise to find your voice’s natural resonance, then explore how and where music lives in your body, with writing exercises to help you strengthen your connection to music and your unique creative voice.
A Light of Your Own: An Intentional Candle Workshop, with Juanita Summer Chase
1-2:15pm
Come slow down and use your hands to create something meaningful. Together, we’ll make hand-rolled, herb-filled beeswax candles and infuse them with whatever you’re calling in: care, protection, healing, joy, release, or something entirely your own. Take your candle home to light whenever you need a little reminder of what you’re calling in.
Body Memory Method, with Leah Zeiger
2:30-3:45pm
From The Sunflower Project’s founder, the ‘Body Memory Method’ honors and explores the knowledge of the body through a guided movement practice. No movement experience required — this method is designed for everybody with a body!
A catalyst for self-discovery and personal growth, Demand to be Heard invites survivors to shatter the barriers of stigma, cultivate empathy, understanding, and support among a wider community. This platform raises awareness about the impact of trauma, challenges societal misconceptions, and fosters a culture of healing and resilience.
The Demand To Be Heard residency culminates with a weekend-long festival of events running from September 25th-27th, 2026.
