Hundreds of handmade poppies raise funds for veterans. Deeply Felt brings contemporary fibre art and ANZAC remembrance to Nathan Homestead.
About this Event

Deeply Felt (and the stories carried within) is a group art exhibition by Auckland Felters, on now at Nathan Homestead Pukepuke from 21 March to 2 May 2026.

The exhibition brings together a wide range of contemporary felt work by artists from across the Auckland region. Featuring wall hangings, sculptural forms, and wearable pieces, Deeply Felt highlights the diversity and expressive potential of wool fibre as an art medium, while reflecting the individual perspectives and practices of its makers.

Running across ANZAC Day, the exhibition also includes a significant art installation titled Held in Remembrance. This is a large-scale (3.2m x 2m) felted poppy artwork created as a fundraising initiative in support of the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services’ Association (RNZRSA).

More than 50 felters from Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world contributed handmade felted poppies to the installation. Together, they form a collective artwork that acknowledges service and sacrifice, and reflects the enduring impact of war on individuals, families, and communities.

You are invited to support the RNZRSA by donating to their ongoing work supporting veterans and their families through advocacy, welfare, and community services.

As a gesture of thanks, qualifying donations of NZ$25 or more (made via a special QR code) are eligible to receive one of the felted poppies from the installation, with a limited number available. To find out how to donate, please visit this website: bit.ly/4bNjbHl and click "continue to destination".

The Deeply Felt exhibition also features an Open Day on Saturday 25 April at Nathan Homestead Pukepuke, from 10am to 2pm, including a felt and fibre market and felting demonstrations.
