Let's spend a sunny afternoon in Dolores Park just hanging out, talking about real stuff, and hunting down some excellent pastries. There is nothing quite like a weekend afternoon on the grass at Dolores, especially when you are sharing it with genuinely open, relaxed people. This entire event is completely free to join, so just bring yourself and maybe a blanket to sit on. I am putting together a laid-back afternoon for us to connect over good conversation and great coffee. We will meet up right at the park. For the first part of our afternoon, we will use the Gist IRL app to pair up for a series of one-on-one chats. It is totally low-pressure. You know exactly who you are talking to, and it gives us a fun, easy way to skip the weather talk and get right into interesting, honest topics on the lawn. After we wrap up the one-on-ones, we gather in groups of four to six with the people we really vibed with. From there, we take a short stroll to one of the incredible cafes or bakeries right around the park. Whether we are grabbing legendary sourdough morning buns at Tartine, rich sipping chocolate at Dandelion, or a matcha at Stonemill, we get to keep the conversations rolling over warm drinks and fresh baked goods. Here is the schedule for the afternoon. 1:00 PM - Check-in. We meet up at the park, and you will use a link to make a quick profile on your phone. Bring a blanket to sit on if you have one, though we will have a few extras. 1:05 - 2:25 PM - One-on-one rounds. The app sets us up for short, friendly chats on the grass so we can get to know each other. 2:25 PM+ - We group up into fours or sixes with the people we hit it off with, pick a nearby bakery or cafe, and walk over together to grab a bite and keep hanging out.
By late afternoon, you will be sitting around a cafe table, laughing over coffee, and realizing you just spent the day with a great new crew. You can keep in touch with everyone afterward through the app, so there is no awkward exchanging of numbers. I am really looking forward to a relaxed afternoon of park hangs and pastry runs with you all.
