A massive treat for you is an intimate set with Gremlinz, a Toronto-based producer and DJ, their journey into Drum & Bass began in the mid-90s when the raw energy and intricate rhythms of Jungle captivated him. Immersed in the culture, he quickly moved from collecting records to DJing and producing. After years of honing his craft, Gremlinz made his debut in 2004 with a track on Metalheadz’ MDZ04 LP, a significant milestone, especially considering his longstanding admiration for the label. Since then, Gremlinz has released music on a range of respected labels including Architecture Recordings, Renegade Hardware, 31 Records, Cylon, Rupture, AMAR, and Paradox Music. His versatility is evident in his broad range of output, from breakbeat-heavy tracks to atmospheric, dubby half-step grooves—always pushing the boundaries of Drum & Bass while staying true to his roots.
As a DJ, Gremlinz brings a straightforward, no-frills approach to his sets, focusing on raw energy and subtle groove. His unique sound and style have earned him a loyal following worldwide, and his affiliation with Loxy & Ink’s HORSEMEN collective has further solidified his place among some of the genre's most forward-thinking artists. In 2015, Gremlinz co-founded UVB-76 Music alongside fellow producers Ruffhouse, a label committed to pushing the boundaries of bass music. UVB-76 quickly gained a reputation for genre-defying releases, and its success led to the creation of several offshoots: Droogs (co-run with Overlook), 4 6 2 5, and The Stone Tapes (curated by Overlook & Vega Ruffhouse). Each of these labels continues to draw a global audience eager for innovative, cutting-edge sounds.
Deck Tha Bass welcomes back to The Mule Spinner a local legend, Frankie Gunns. Started DJing in 1991, spent 10 years working at the legendary Play De Record record store in Toronto, and became a staple of the local underground electronic music community. Gunns Road Music: He is the owner and founder of Gunns Road Music, a record label named after Gunns Road in Toronto that showcases underground D&B and jungle artists. Regularly featured at prominent Toronto underground D&B events like Drumcraft at BSMT254, alongside selectors like Gremlinz and Rumbleton.
