Join us for an evening walk from Livingston North Railway Station, heading up Dechmont Law & Deer Hill from which on clear evenings you are rewarded with fantastic views across Livingston & the Almond Valley, towards the Pentland Hills & east towards Edinburgh, Arthur's Seat & the Forth Bridges.
But Dechmont Law has more to offer than just the views...
It's an ancient volcano! Dechmont Law is a volcanic plug dating back around 300 million years.
There's history too, with evidence of Bronze & Iron Age activity on its slopes.
And then there's the mystery... Beside Dechmont Law was the scene of one of Scotland's best-known UFO encounters in 1979. Don't worry - we're going for the views, not looking for aliens!
This sociable, moderately paced walk is designed to get our heart rates up & improve fitness. The route follows residential streets before heading through woodland & over grassy paths to the summits. Please wear suitable footwear & bring a walking pole if you use one. A headtorch or handheld torch is essential as the evenings are now getting darker.
