Local author Deborah Hufford visits with her latest, The Fire Born, which revisits the forgotten Peshtigo catastrophe, which happened the same night as the famous Chicago fire, through the eyes of those who lived it.

As a University of Iowa grad student, Hufford taught at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. She began her magazine career at Better Homes & Gardens, then amassed numerous writing credits, including New York Times, NYT Magazine, and Connoisseur. She launched a historical blog, Notes from the Frontier, that has more than 100,000 readers. She also taught at Northwestern and Marquette Universities, and is the author of the bestseller Blood to Rubies.
