About this Event
Armenian Film Society proudly presents both parts of De Gaulle on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15.
Following the US Premiere of De Gaulle - Part I: Resistance at the 2026 Armenian Film Festival, Armenian Film Society presents an encore theatrical screening of Part I, followed by De Gaulle - Part II: Liberty.
Supported by Alliance Française de Pasadena.
The two films chronicle General Charles de Gaulle's extraordinary journey during World War II, from his refusal to accept France's surrender in 1940 to his pivotal role in the country's liberation.
DE GAULLE – PART I: RESISTANCE
June 1940. As Nazi Germany invades France and the French government surrenders, General Charles de Gaulle refuses to accept defeat. Fleeing to London with little political support and no army, he sets out to rally the French Resistance and convince the Allies that France's fight for freedom is far from over. Against overwhelming odds, de Gaulle emerges as the leader of the Free French movement, determined to reclaim his nation's independence.

DE GAULLE – PART II: LIBERTY
Following the victories of the Free French Forces, General Charles de Gaulle faces a new challenge: uniting the fractured Resistance while navigating growing tensions with Allied leaders, including Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt. As the war progresses and the liberation of France draws closer, de Gaulle must fight not only against Nazi occupation but also to ensure that France emerges from the conflict as a free and sovereign nation.
