ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Julia Alcántara is the Founder and Artistic Director of Flamenco Fever and La Cantera Arts Conservatory, Dallas's only professional flamenco company and the only studio in the United States — outside the National Institute of Flamenco — to teach all four flamenco arts: dance, guitar, singing, and percussion. A Dallas native who trained at the National Institute of Flamenco at the University of New Mexico and studied extensively in Spain and New York, Julia has spent 33 years bringing world-class flamenco to Texas. In 2023, she made history as the director of the first American flamenco company invited to perform at the International Festival Flamenco de Málaga, Spain — earning the formal endorsement of the Honorary Consulates of Spain in both Dallas and Houston. Proclaimed a Dallas Treasure for her work with the Irving Symphony, Julia has produced and performed at some of Dallas's most prestigious venues including the Majestic Theater, Moody Performance Hall, and the Latino Cultural Center, and has been featured in The Dallas Morning News. In Spring 2027, she will lead a five-week flamenco residency at SMU Meadows School of the Arts, culminating in a landmark performance at McFarlin Auditorium.
