Tacos are only the beginning
Tequila, tacos and a laneway full of life. Hains & Co’s Day of the Dead party is back on Saturday 31 October.
For one colourful night, the Gilbert Place bar and Herradura are bringing together fresh Margaritas, Mexican food, painted faces and DJ Tommy Tequila for a celebration of the living and the lost.
The plan? Dinner first. Dancing later. Something fun to wear.
Juan’s Torta Cantina. One night only
Bowden favourite Juan’s Torta Cantina is bringing dinner to the party, serving tacos, fried chicken and corn ribs from 6–9pm. All gluten-free.
Ahead of its move into the Adelaide Central Market development next year, Juan’s is giving its future CBD neighbours a taste of what’s to come.
Tacos · $12 for two
- Cochinita Pibil: Yucatán-style pulled pork, pickled onion salsa and queso fresco. Contains dairy.
- Carne Asada: Marinated grilled beef, tomatillo salsa verde, coriander and onion.
- Champignon: Marinated grilled mushrooms, chipotle aioli and pickles escabeche.
On the side
- Corn ribs · $6 for five: Spiced corn ribs, chipotle aioli, parmesan and spring onion.
- Juan’s fried chicken · $10: Jalapeño-brined fried chicken with Juan’s Buffalo sauce.
Lime, salt & a little heat
Fresh lime. Juicy blueberries. Mango and a kick of jalapeño.
The Herradura tequila cocktail line-up runs from classic Margaritas to spicy favourites, grapefruit Palomas and cocktails with a smoky mezcal twist.
For those who prefer to sip, the Herradura range comes with green sangrita on the side. Plenty to tempt the tequila curious and the already converted.
Stay until the spirits rise
A face painter will help guests look the part, while DJ Tommy Tequila takes over from 8pm–1am, keeping the party moving long after the last taco.
Bright flowers, colourful headbands, painted faces or a favourite party outfit: guests are encouraged to dress with flair. The laneway will supply the atmosphere.
