Co-hosted by acclaimed art historian, critic and curator Dr Sasha Grishin, together they will discuss Fairbairn’s exhibition Proof of Identity and his deeply considered approach to portraiture.

Working with sitters over extended periods, Fairbairn develops an intimate understanding of his subjects, building layered compositions that seek to capture not only their physical likeness, but their character, presence and sense of identity. Through expressive mark-making, his portraits reveal the passage of time and the evolving relationship between artist and sitter.
