RHYTHM is excited to welcome David & Laura, the international Bachata stars, choreographers and directors coming directly from Colombia 🇨🇴 for a special 4-week Bachata Social Style experience in Oslo.
With more than 15 years of individual experience and 8 years working together under their own brand, Bachata Social Style, David & Laura have built an international career teaching, performing, judging and competing at festivals and congresses across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia.
Their style combines traditional, modern and sensual Bachata, while always preserving the essence of authentic social dancing.
Over four weeks, they will take you through a progressive journey covering solo technique, footwork, styling, partnerwork, connection, musicality and Jack & Jill training.
This is your opportunity to train directly with two internationally recognized artists and bring new inspiration to your dancing.

🌎 MEET DAVID & LAURA
David & Laura are a professional dance couple from Colombia and the founders of Bachata Social Style.
Their diverse backgrounds bring a unique perspective to their dancing and teaching:
David has a background in Break Dance and Salsa.
Laura has a background in Street Dance and Salsa.
Together, they have taught, performed, judged and competed at international festivals and congresses across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia.

🔥 THE 4-WEEK EXPERIENCE
Each week builds on the previous one, allowing you to progressively develop your technique, connection, musicality, styling and confidence on the dance floor.
All classes are Open Level.

WEEK 1
FOUNDATIONS & CONNECTION
18:00 — Bachata Social Style: Solo Technique & Styling
Basics, Hips & Sensations
We will work on the different basic steps used in Bachata, the importance of hip movement, and the different hip actions we can use.
We will also explore the sensations that can be applied to these basics by playing with energy, dynamics, and emphasis.
19:00 — Bachata Social Style: Partnerwork & Connection
Partnerwork Fundamentals
We will work on the fundamental techniques and concepts of partnerwork, diving into topics such as grips, positions, leading and following, connection, and more.
We will also integrate the solo work from the previous class into partner dancing through practical exercises and patterns.
20:00 — Bachata Social Style: Signature Movement
David & Laura’s Signature Movement
We will learn one of David and Laura’s signature movements!
We will reveal the secrets and techniques behind these patterns for successful execution in partnerwork and social dancing.

WEEK 2
FOOTWORK & MUSICALITY
18:00 — Bachata Social Style: Solo Technique & Styling
Cadence, Footwork & Diagonal Step
We will continue exploring hip movement and the cadence it creates, as well as the technique required to execute it correctly.
We will also learn some of the most common footwork patterns and review one of the fundamental Bachata basics — the Diagonal Step — to ensure we have the correct technique for successful execution.
Explore different variations to add more creativity and flavor to your dancing.
19:00 — Bachata Social Style: Partnerwork & Connection
Diagonal Step in Partnerwork
We will focus on the leading and following techniques of the Diagonal Step, learning all the details needed to execute it correctly in partnerwork.
We will also explore different variations to add more creativity and flavor to your dancing, using practical combinations to maximize your learning and enjoyment.
20:00 — Bachata Social Style: Signature Movement
David & Laura’s Signature Movement
We will continue learning one of David and Laura’s signature movements!
We will reveal the secrets and techniques behind these patterns for successful execution in partnerwork and social dancing.

WEEK 3
TECHNIQUE & STYLING
18:00 — Bachata Social Style: Solo Technique & Styling
Solo Technique & Styling
We will continue working on solo technique and individual dancing, exploring the concepts introduced in Weeks 1 and 2 in greater depth.
We will take these skills to the next level through footwork routines and styling techniques that add an extra touch to your dancing.
19:00 — Bachata Social Style: Partnerwork & Connection
Partnerwork Technique
We will continue developing our partnerwork technique, diving deeper into the concepts introduced in Weeks 1 and 2.
We will also begin incorporating footwork into partner dancing and, most importantly, learn how to lead and follow it correctly as a couple.
20:00 — Bachata Social Style: Signature Movement
Styling in Partnerwork
We will learn how and when to add styling to our dancing.
Through a practical routine, we will explore both ladies’ and men’s styling techniques, adding extra flavor and expression to elevate your partner dancing.

WEEK 4
JACK & JILL TRAINING
The final week takes everything we have learned into the world of Jack & Jill competitions.
18:00 — Bachata Social Style: Solo Technique & Styling
J&J — Music Structure & Musicality
A dancer expresses and interprets the music.
In this class, we will review the key concepts behind Bachata music, how a Bachata song is structured, and how to use musicality to bring the music to life.
We will combine practical exercises with theory, covering both macro and micro musical concepts.
19:00 — Bachata Social Style: Partnerwork & Connection
J&J — Footwork & Connection in Partnerwork
We will continue exploring footwork in partnerwork and connect it with the concepts learned in the previous class.
Our goal is to make the music come alive through our dancing together.
We will cover topics such as connection, playfulness, giving space, communication, and enjoyment on the dance floor.
20:00 — Bachata Social Style: Signature Movement
J&J — Simulation, Psychology & Mindset
The best way to retain what we have learned is to put it into practice!
We will simulate a Jack & Jill competition, giving everyone the opportunity to dance and demonstrate the skills developed throughout the previous weeks.
Participants will also receive feedback and tips for improvement.
In addition, we will discuss competitions, the psychology and mindset behind them, and share valuable advice from David and Laura, who have extensive experience as artists, judges, and winners of world-class competitions.

🎯 WHO IS THIS FOR?
OPEN LEVEL — EVERYONE IS WELCOME
This workshop is open to dancers of different experience levels.
Whether you are building your Bachata foundations, an experienced social dancer, or someone interested in improving your skills for competitions, David & Laura will give you practical tools that you can immediately apply on the dance floor.
You don’t need to be a competition dancer to benefit from the J&J training.
The focus is on becoming a better, more connected, musical and confident dancer.

Each class is 55 minutes.
