Three days. Twelve seats. A room where the real conversation actually happens. Dare to Lead™ in Red Deer, October 2026.
About this Event

What people say afterward

"The course was everything that I hoped for and more."

"Participants clearly felt safe to share. Their stories benefited the entire group. This happened because Alana created a safe space."

"The content was super uncomfortable, but the space was safe to open up and be vulnerable together. Alana set the tone early on."

"So valuable to work individually, in small groups, and together — to hear different perspectives and learn from one another."

— Participants, Dare to Lead™ cohorts

Why the room matters more than the framework

There are a lot of good leadership frameworks. Dare to Lead™ is one of them. You can watch Brené's TED talks. You can read the book twice.

What you can't download is the room.

A room where the CFO says the thing she's been sitting on for eight months. Where the executive director names the dynamic on his board. Where a senior manager admits she's been leading from armour for a decade and doesn't know how to take it off.

That doesn't happen because the content is good. It happens because the conditions are right.

Setting those conditions — the kind of room where real conversation becomes possible — is the work I've spent a career learning to do.

What you'll learn

Dare to Lead™ is the empirically based courage-building program developed from Dr. Brené Brown's seven-year study on courageous leadership. Over three days together, you'll build four teachable, observable skill sets:

  • Rumbling with Vulnerability — the tools and language to stay in hard conversations instead of moving away from them.
  • Living into our Values — moving your values from aspiration to daily behaviour you can name, teach, and hold yourself to.
  • Braving Trust — a shared framework for what trust actually is, so you can build it, assess it, and repair it with precision.
  • Learning to Rise — how to reset after setbacks without carrying shame or passing it on.

What you'll leave with

  • Language for the conversations you've been avoiding
  • A values practice that holds up when things get hard
  • A trust instrument you can bring directly to your team
  • A reset practice for when things go sideways
  • The Dare to Lead™ Trained certificate and LinkedIn badge
  • A cohort of leaders outside your organization who know your real work

Who it's for?

This workshop is for you if you hold formal or informal leadership and the stakes of your conversations are climbing. If you've done the reading and you're ready to practice. If you want to learn alongside leaders from outside your own organization — where you don't have to manage the room while you learn.

It's probably not for you if you're looking for frameworks to deploy on your team without doing the work yourself, or if you need anonymity. This cohort is small, and the learning depends on showing up.

Why twelve, capped?

Twelve seats. No exceptions, no add-ons.

A small room is not a constraint on the work — it is the work. With twelve, the room stays small enough to be real. With twelve, the conversations that matter have time to land.

How you show up is yours to decide. Some leaders process by speaking. Some process by listening. Both belong in the room.

The most consistent feedback from past cohorts has been some version of "I wanted more space for the real conversations." Twelve is how I'm answering that.
