About this Event
The Sanctuary Studio is delighted to welcome back accomplished tabla artist Dani Ekbote, joined by special guest sitarist Avichal Jha, for an intimate evening of Indian classical music celebrating the expressive beauty of the sitar and the rhythmic sophistication of the tabla.
A gifted performer and educator, Dani began his musical training under his father, Shri Hemant Ekbote, and currently studies with the celebrated Pandit Yogesh Samsi. Having also spent many formative years attending workshops with the legendary Ustad Zakir Hussain, Dani has performed throughout the United States and internationally, bringing a remarkable depth of rhythmic knowledge and musical sensitivity to his performances. He also teaches at the Divine School of Music in Irvine.
Joining Dani for this special performance is Los Angeles-based sitarist Avichal Jha, a senior disciple of the renowned Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. Performing in the distinguished Etawah Gharana tradition, Avichal is deeply devoted to preserving and sharing the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Indian classical music.
Together, Dani and Avichal invite audiences into the captivating world of Indian classical music, where melody and rhythm unfold through spontaneous improvisation, attentive dialogue, and deep listening. From meditative exploration to exhilarating rhythmic interplay, this performance promises an evening of extraordinary musicianship and profound musical connection.
