Concept
Prepare yourselves for a daring adventure across a grimdark, politically-charged fantasy universe, made entirely out of candy. Your crew of characters will attempt to complete a string of absolutely ill-advised errands for royal houses, thwarting a menagerie of villains and sovereigns in your attempts to increase the influence of your houses, or ascend the candied throne yourself. You’ll gather assets and creatively assemble them into intricate plans, inventing novel incursions into impenetrable fortifications and attempting to twist a kingdom in disarray to your whims. Speak swift and sweetly, daggers move in the dark. This is the Sucrosian way.
Aim
At the core, we’re aiming to explore weird settings and meet strange characters in the most cavalier ways possible. Together we’ll build the reality of a bizarre candied universe even as we loot it for everything it’s worth. Strangely enough, we’re also in this to figure out why our heroes would go on such a perilous mission. Loot and glory? Yeah, that’s a given. But through the developing action, we aim to reveal – bit by bit – the elaborate origin stories of our heroes, and the dark chocolate-y heart of the world. And ultimately, we’ll discover how this intertemporal chain of events leads the Heroes to an attempted overthrow of the Sucrosian Overlord.
Tone
Secretive and paranoid with a bit of betrayal. The game sings when we think outside of the box and deliver the unexpected. That said, a big part of what we’ll be doing is rationalizing the setting and the characters’ gonzo side. Push the weird, but also draw up why it makes sense. But though we are kitschy and gonzo, the world is violent and disastrously so. Missteps of etiquette may not result in immediate violence, but a despot offended may result in an assassination attempt in broad daylight down the road.
