Dancing Monsters will be supporting the Reclaim the Night March this year!Why?
Many people have their connection to valued places limited by safety concerns, and this is particularly so for women and gender diverse people. What if these connections could develop without fear?
Dancing Monsters are interested in exploring and even celebrating space that has been "othered" and made monstrous within patriarchal culture: nature and gender are both subject to these dynamics.
The dark forest. The hideous hag. The slimy swamp. The crone.
What if these were respected, not feared?
The event starts at Parliament House at 7pm with speakers, followed by a march via Hindley Street to Beehive Corner.
We will meet the march there, taking up space with wild faces at that end of Rundle Mall until 8.45pm.
Women and gender diverse people in Monster crew, men and anyone interested can support them as percussion crew.
There will be a pre-event workshop for the Monster crew on the 10th of October at Sharehouse in North Adelaide (old train station) from 2pm to 4.30pm. Follow for more details on this.
