Dancehall 101: A Back2Basics Dancehall class.
This class is designed for beginners who just started their dance/hall journey as well as more intermediate and advance dancers who never tire of the basics.
Students will learn FUNdamental Dancehall techniques and steps that will give you a better understanding of the style and culture of Jamaican Dancehall. Aimee’s goal is that you will be able to take this information home, practice, and use it at any party, whether that’s outside at a club or at home in your kitchen. Think waistline movements, wine, tik tok, jiggle, bounce, etc. This class is taught at a more intentional pace with space to ask questions and practice in repetition. We will also learn some of the newest steps straight outta Jamaica and a little dance routine to remember it all.
BIO: Aimee has been teaching Dancehall all over the Bay Area and beyond since 2014. Twice a year since 2017, Aimee brings Dancehall dance students to Jamaica to study the dance, roots, and culture. Aimee has also performed live on stage or in videos with Steel Pulse, Kes, Too $hort, Baby Cham, Demarco, Christopher Martin, Los Rakas, Black Eyed Keys, Israel Vibrations and many more.
Suggested attire, cute shorts and or lose fitting pants..better for shaking and jiggling!
