⸻ 🌴 Roots and Training Born in Camagüey, Cuba (1983), Danger Rodríguez is an internationally renowned dancer and choreographer. He began his career with the prestigious Conjunto Artístico Maraguán, where he trained in Cuban folk dance, rural folklore, Haitian and Jamaican roots, and conga. For seven years, he represented Cuba at festivals sponsored by the C.I.O.F.F., taking his art to countries such as the Dominican Republic, Mexico, France, Portugal, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and other destinations around the world.
🏅 Notable Awards: • Best Dancer at the Cuban Festival of University Artists. • Gold Medal at the Dijon International Festival (France, 2007). • First place at the Gorizia Folk Festival (Italy, 2006).
— 🇪🇸 Artistic Evolution in Spain In 2008, he arrived in Spain, where his career expanded rapidly. He became co-director and choreographer of the Evolution group, performing on numerous stages and at dance festivals throughout the country. In 2012, he collaborated on the choreography for the piece “Lágrimas Negras” (with music by Chucho Valdés) for the 45th Voll-Damm Barcelona International Jazz Festival, a tribute to Bebo Valdés, receiving significant international acclaim.
D&Y Dance Company and “Modern Son” In 2014, he and Yunaisy founded the D&Y Dance Company, with which they performed at prestigious congresses and festivals such as Remeneate, Guaguancó Festival, and the Festival de Cuba (Stuttgart and Berlin). Together, they developed their own style: “Modern Son,” a fusion of traditional son with contemporary elements, establishing themselves as one of the most creative and influential Cuban dance couples on the international scene. —
🌟 Television and Creative Projects • 2019: Participated in Spain's Got Talent, reaching the semifinals with choreographies that stood out for their power and authenticity. • 2020: Created the Cuban Project, bringing together Cuban dancers in Barcelona for collective choreographies that went viral on social media. • 2021: Founded the Cuban Power company, the first formed by Cubans outside the island, which participated in the reality show The Dancer (TVE), also reaching the semifinals and winning over the jury and the audience.
— 🔥 Salsa Fresh and a New Artistic Stage In 2022, he launched the “Salsa Fresh” movement, an innovative proposal within the Latin dance scene that combines Cuban essence with a modern, clean, and current energy. With this concept, Danger promotes a new vision of salsa: fresh, elegant, and accessible, connecting with a new generation of dancers and rhythm lovers.
That same year, he formed an artistic partnership with dancer Marielkis Hernández, a graduate of the National School of Art of Cuba. Together, they continue to spread Cuban and Latin culture at major international salsa and bachata festivals, taking their art to stages throughout Europe.
