Dan Smith hit the ground running in comedy, winning HBO’s Funniest Comic in Boston competition in his very first year as a stand-up comedian. Riding that momentum, Dan packed up and headed to Los Angeles, where he quickly built an impressive career both on stage and behind the scenes in television and entertainment.As a performer, Dan has appeared on numerous television programs including The Drew Carey Show, Talk Soup, Loco Comedy Jam, Star Search, and his own comedy special on the Starz Network. His sharp writing talents also earned him success behind the camera, writing and producing for hit shows such as Blind Date, The 5th Wheel, and Ex-Treme Dating. For more than four years, Dan was also a joke writer for Us Weekly Magazine as part of the popular “Fashion Police” team.
On stage, Dan has toured alongside some of comedy’s biggest names including George Lopez, Bob Saget, Bill Burr, and Rob Schneider, earning a reputation as a seasoned and versatile headliner.
Perhaps most impressively, Dan has completed more than 25 military comedy tours — and counting — performing for U.S. and NATO troops in over 35 countries around the world. His travels have taken him everywhere from Bosnia, Kosovo, Iceland, Japan, and Korea to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. In recognition of his dedication and performances overseas, Dan has received more than 250 Certificates of Appreciation from military organizations worldwide.
Beyond clubs and theaters, Dan is also a highly sought-after corporate entertainer, with hundreds of company parties, charity fundraisers, and special events to his credit. His client list includes New Balance, Cisco Systems, Habitat for Humanity, The Lance Armstrong Foundation, Home Depot, the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments, the Worcester Police Department, the USO, and many more.
