About this Event

The DAI Local Content Masterclass is a three-day, highly practical program designed for professionals across sectors like energy, infrastructure, and development. It equips participants with tools to drive sustainable local development, navigate evolving regulatory landscapes, and implement impactful local content strategies. Through real-world case studies and interactive sessions, you'll learn how to design procurement plans, assess supply chain gaps, and apply data-driven methods to deliver measurable local benefits. At the end of the course, you’ll also receive a certificate confirming that you have completed this training provided by a British Accreditation Council-accredited short-course provider. Day 1: Local Content Policy, Regulation, and Forecasting

Participants will explore the latest trends in local content policy and programming and will be given a global perspective with insights from DAI's ongoing advisory projects and participants’ rich experiences.

Topics Covered:

• Local/national content origins, economic theory, and definitions

• Global political economy of local content

• Experiences with local/national content—what has worked and what has not

• Principles and methodology for determining a fit-for-purpose local content strategy and/or policy development approach

• Core elements of a robust local content strategy and/or policy

• International trade implications

• Methodology for developing a local content strategy and policy

• Case studies with analysis of local content laws, regulations, and policies

• Understanding of supply and demand for local content

• Local content forecasting methodologies and mapping the local industrial base (enterprises and workforce)



Day 2: Local Content Plans, Procurement, and Reporting

Participants will be guided through the necessary steps and components required to both strategize and develop a local content plan.

Topics Covered:

• Developing a local content plan

• Contracting and tendering strategies

• How to integrate local content into procurement procedures

• Data governance and collection systems, processes, and methods

• Selecting the right metrics, KPIs, and impact measures

• Understanding and interpreting data

• Communicating results and engaging key stakeholders

• Identifying the right digital solutions to streamline reporting



Day 3: Local Content Development Activities

On the final day of the course, participants will delve into the very practical aspects of investing in and developing local content and unpack real-world learning through ongoing case studies focused on supplier and workforce development.

Topics Covered:

• Supplier evaluation and gap assessment methodology

• Using online registration and pre-qualification portals and tools

• Assessing local workforce skills and qualifications

• Evaluating supplier financing needs and mechanisms

• Using different drivers to develop entrepreneurship and innovation programs

• Measuring local training capacity of technical, vocational, and higher education institutions

• Designing and implementing supplier and workforce development programs

• Review of how local content is being achieved in the renewables sector



Items included in fees

The course fee covers the three days of expert training, training materials such as a participant course pack, light refreshments and drinks throughout the course, and a certificate confirming the participant has completed this training provided by a British Accreditation Council-accredited short-course provider. Attendees are responsible for flight and accommodation costs, but we usually secure a special room rate for Local Content Masterclass attendees at either the hotel where the Masterclass is held or in a nearby hotel. We also ensure the Masterclass is hosted in a city with at least one major international airport with strong global connections, and we can support visa applications by providing a formal letter of invitation and we are happy to discuss any other support that may help.

Payment and Cancellation Terms

Payment in full is required at the time of booking. Registration will only be confirmed upon full payment. It is the responsibility of registered participant(s) to pay any additional local taxes that may be applicable (tax withholding, VAT, etc).

To cancel or amend a registration, please write to DAI via email at [email protected]. Charges for cancellations are calculated as below and are based on the total value of the booking:

Cancellations received at least eight (8) weeks prior to the course start date are eligible for a full refund.

For cancellations received between eight (8) weeks and four (4) weeks prior to the course start date, a refund will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.

For cancellations received between four (4) weeks and two (2) weeks prior to the course start date, a refund will be subject to a 75% cancellation fee.

Cancellations received less than fourteen (14) days before course start date are not eligible for a refund.

If the program is cancelled at any time by DAI, participants will be advised as soon as possible and will be eligible for a transfer to the next program or a full refund at DAI's discretion.
