About this Event
Committed to honoring the musical traditions of diverse cultures, Asaba Duo - consisting of Marina Manterola (flute), together with Carolina Agudín (guitar) - created its first program, Oinatzak—which means ‘trace’ in Basque— a sonic journey that travels from tango to the Balkans, from Basque heritage to Japanese tradition. Following its premiere in October 2024 at the Museum of Fine Arts of Álava, Asaba Duo has since brought the project to stages across Spain and Central Europe.
They have been selected by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) to take part in the MusaE Project for the 2025/26 season, a series of acoustic concerts held across Spain’s network of State Museums.
With well-established individual careers, Carolina Agudín is recognized for her powerful sound, expressiveness, and strong stage presence, while Marina Manterola stands out for her interpretive maturity and technical mastery.
Asaba Duo was born as a shared space for artistic exploration, where virtuosity, sensitivity, and a vision of art as a form of cultural dialogue come together.
