Come and explore the magical process of cyanotype printing, using UV light, plants, objects and found imagery to create your own unique prints. We’ll start with the traditional cyanotype process, creating beautiful blue photographic prints using sunlight or UV light. You’ll then have the chance to experiment with natural alternatives, using materials such as turmeric and hibiscus to create different colours, textures and effects.
There will be plenty of time to play with composition, layering and exposure, so you can see how different materials and techniques change your prints. You can also experiment with adding paint and other mixed media to develop your work further.
This is a hands-on, experimental workshop where you can try different approaches, see what happens and create a collection of unique prints to take home.
By the end of the workshop you will:
Learn practical techniques for creating cyanotype prints
Explore how UV light, plants, objects and found imagery can be used to create images
Experiment with composition, layering and exposure
Discover how natural materials such as turmeric and hibiscus can be used to create alternative colours and effects
Explore adding paint and mixed media to your finished prints
Gain ideas and techniques you can continue experimenting with at home
All material costs are included
