About this Event
When Rocco Fiorentino was born four months premature, doctors gave him a less than 5% chance of survival. His unyielding spirit shone through from the beginning, and while his retinopathy of prematurity left him completely blind, he overcame the odds and began an incredible life journey. His music-filled story explores the nature of inner vision and deep human connection, and reveals that sometimes our eyes get in the way of true seeing.
As guests arrive, the evening will kick off with a performance by the FMDG Music School Latin Jazz Ensemble, then by the short documentary film How I See It: Rocco. This will be followed by a post-film talkback with legally blind director and filmmaker Daria Zawadzki, co-director and filmmaker Karen Shapiro, Emmy winning producer and filmmaker Shaun Kadlec, and Rocco Fiorentino. The evening will conclude with a performance by The Mama Foundation’s Sing Harlem choir, followed by a chance to mingle.
"How I See It: Rocco" was produced by In A Nutshell & Possible Selves.
