MEETING POINT at the small roundabout just inside the cemetery.

Hedon Road Cemetery has over 250 CWGC graves from WW1 and WW2 scattered around the area. This tour will cover about 40 of the fallen, telling the stories of how they lived and died, the ships they were torpedoed on, as well as a conscientious objector who has a grave near to the Pr*son wall where he died for what he believed. A number of the First World War graves were damaged in WW2 when a German bomber strafed the town.

Hull, being a city with a port on the east coast, was the perfect place to land our injured soldiers, sailors and airmen, so they could be looked after in the many hospitals around the city. Some of these unfortunately died of their wounds and are buried in this cemetery.

The tour last approx. 90 mins and covers about 1600 metres on grass and uneven ground.

Parking on-site available by the small roundabout. There are no facilities or toilets on site so please bring water if required.

Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

Only assistance dogs allowed in the cemetery.

Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.

The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
