Brush up on your bird identification skills while enjoying coffee and cake with one of the best views at RSPB Arne.Autumn and winter are a spectacular time for birdwatching at RSPB Arne, as waders and wildfowl arrive to spend the winter in and around Poole Harbour.
Join one of our expert guides for a relaxed morning discovering some of our wonderful winter visitors and learning useful tips to help improve your bird identification skills.
Ever wondered how to tell a Curlew from a Whimbrel, or find wader identification a little daunting when there is a whole flock in front of you? Our guide will be on hand to point out the key features to look for, answer your questions and help you build your confidence.
Your morning will begin at the café, where you can choose a slice of cake to enjoy later in the morning. If you don't have your own binoculars, binocular hire will also be available from our shop before the event begins.
We will then head out onto the reserve to our Lookout Hide, where one side of the hide will be reserved exclusively for the group. Settle in with a fresh coffee and your chosen slice of cake while looking out across the reserve and learning more about the birds feeding and gathering in front of you.
Avocet, Spoonbill, Black-tailed Godwit and Curlew are just a taster of what we might hope to see.
Whether you are relatively new to birdwatching or simply want to brush up on your identification skills, Curlew, Coffee and Cake is a friendly and enjoyable way to experience the winter wildlife of RSPB Arne.
Wrap up warm and join us for winter waders, spectacular views, a warming coffee and, of course, cake!
