Join Curated Contemporary for a morning exploring three contemporary galleries in Alexandria, each offering a distinct perspective on today's commercial gallery landscape.
Our first stop is 1301SW, a Melbourne-born contemporary gallery whose Sydney space opened in 2024. 1301SW brings together established and emerging artists, offering a wonderful cross-section of contemporary practice.
Next, we'll visit The Renshaws, the new kid on the block. Originally established in Brisbane, the gallery opened its Sydney space in September 2026. The Renshaws takes a tailored approach to creating opportunities and outcomes for the artists it represents. We'll discover its new space and learn more about its distinctive approach.
Our final stop is Fox Jensen Sydney, which has recently relocated from its longstanding Paddington home to an impressive new space in Alexandria. With soaring ceilings, expansive windows and beautiful natural light, the gallery has a wonderful sense of scale and an almost museum-like atmosphere.
A highlight of the morning is the opportunity to meet and engage with the artists and gallerists themselves in an intimate, behind-the-scenes setting. Hear directly about the artists' practices, the ideas informing their work and the people shaping Sydney's contemporary art scene.
Your host for the morning is Michelle Chanique, founder of Curated Contemporary, practising artist, independent curator and public programs producer. With extensive experience across the commercial gallery sector and a genuine passion for making contemporary art more accessible, Michelle brings an informed, engaging and welcoming perspective to each visit.
