Learn about the history and significance of this rich Palestinian tradition and how to embroider basic stitches.
About this Event

Limited spots available, registration is required.

Tatreez is a Palestinian cross-stitch tradition that has been passed down through generations. Through the intricate embroidery of patterns and motifs, Tatreez weaves stories of family, community and resistance. In this workshop led by Sarah from Stitch Intifada you will be introduced to the history and significance of Tatreez and learn basic stitching techniques.

We will also be screening the short film ‘Threads of Witness’ by artist, Dina El-Nakla, which stitches together interviews, botim calls, animations, and illustrations that invoke the importance of Tatreez in the lives of the women in Dina's family, across the Palestinian diaspora.

No prior experience required. Suitable for ages 15 +.
