From the ‘cottage hospital’ (replicated at Heritage Park) to the purpose-built sandstone Calgary General Hospital #2 to the ever-evolving Bridgeland versions of the hospital, health care was provided to residents in our growing city. You’ll learn about key aspects of the hospital’s evolution, its close relationship to the city of Calgary and its important contribution to the health of the people.
Presenters Biography: Deb Lee is a retired nurse and long-time resident of Bridgeland who became concerned about lack of information about the Calgary General Hospital, that had provided health care to Calgary residents from the Bridgeland site from 1910-1998. Her interest in ‘telling the story of the General’ necessitated delving into the historical records and she’s happy to share what she has learned.
