Cultopia's Impromptu Jazz and Funk Sessie zoekt jouw steun! Wij brengen toegankelijke maar hoogwaardige jazz- en funkjamsessies met een sterke huisband van Amsterdamse muzikanten als basis. We bieden in Amsterdam Oost voor zowel het luisterend publiek als de deelnemende muzikanten een gezellig topevent in het mooie Podium Genieten aan het Oranje Vrijstaatplein in de Watergraafsmeer.
Dit evenement is uniek in Amsterdam Oost, waar nog nooit eerder een jazz- of funkjamsessie heeft plaatsgevonden. Onder leiding van sessieleider Leo Kogan nodigt de band bekende muzikanten uit de lokale jazzscene uit. Muziektalent uit Oost en Amsterdam kan bij ons het podium op stappen. De eerste keren werden meteen goed bezocht. Het evenement is gratis toegankelijk en deelname is natuurlijk ook gratis. De productie van dit evenement is in handen van Cultopia van Stichting Karrewiel (bekend van het Indische Buurt Festival.)
Mooi, zou je zeggen! Onze jam valt echter tussen de wal en het schip als het om financiering gaat. Voor kunstsubsidie zijn we toegankelijk, voor ondersteuning als sociaal event is de kwaliteit van de muziek te hoog. Raar maar waar!
Daarom zoeken we jouw steun om de basisband en de organisatie mogelijk te maken. Met een goede sessie nog voor de zomer kunnen we samen met jou de subsidiegevers laten zien dat het anders zit. Met Cultopia en Impromptu willen we dit evenement nog één keer organiseren, op zaterdagavond 24 mei aanstaande. De campagne is bedoeld om 1.275 euro op te halen om de kosten van de huisband en de organisatie te dekken en het evenement te laten opnemen door IBTV voor uitzending bij hen op SALTO TV en Youtube voor iedereen die er niet bij was. En voor de fondsengevers natuurlijk, want bij hen willen we dekking aan gaan vragen voor een seizoen met zes Funk- & JazzJams in Amsterdam Oost. Cultopia's Impromptu Jazz and Funk Session is looking for your support! This open jam session is accessible to all levels of musicians and is led a by The Impromptu Jazz Collective house band, whose high-level musicianship and support are at full disposal of the participants. In Amsterdam East, we offer both the listening audience and the participating musicians a fun and engaging experience at Podium Genieten, a reputable venue located within footsteps of Q-Factory, at the Oranje Vrijstaatplein in Watergraafsmeer.
This event is unique to Amsterdam East, where a jazz or funk jam session has never taken place before. Led by the session leader and the Impromptu Jazz Collective house band head Leo Kogan, the jam welcomes to the stage musicians of all levels, all walks of life and all parts of Amsterdam. The event has already taken place seven times, has been well attended and has secured a growing fan base. The event is free: there are no entrance or participations costs. The production of this event is run by Cultopia, part of Stichting Karrewiel, renown for organizing the Indische Buurt Festival. Stichting Cultopia has been instrumental in establishing this event at the Genieten venue, recording both sound tracks and video footage of the event, and providing many organizational aspects.
Great local initiative! However, similarly to other such events, this one also has had a rocky history when it comes to financing. Although eligible for subsidies, the quality of the event is, evidently, too high to be supported as a social event. This may seem strange, but apparently this is how it works.
In order to make the organization of this event possible and to continue its course, we are looking for your support. Having one more session this season before the summer will demonstrate the funding bodies that the event is sustainable. Cultopia and Impromptu Jazz Collective want to collaborate and organize this event one more time this season, on Saturday, May 24th, between 19:00-22:00. The campaign intends to raise €1,275 to cover the costs of the house band and the organization, to record the event by Cutopia's IBTV for broadcast on Salto TV. Our intention is to organize another six editions of this event next season. With your support for this one-time event, having pulled it off despite the challenges, we will be able to demonstrate to the funding bodies our resilience. Musicians willing to take part can either register beforehand at [email protected] or make themselves known to the session leader after the opening set. Please let us know the tunes you'd like to play or sing, know the key and the tempo, and please bring your own instruments, cables, drum sticks and, if necesary, own microphones.
